Black November Wave 7 is here … and here are five deals to consider

If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices right now over on the mothership as BlowoutCards.com is in the midst its Black November sales now.

Wave 7 is here and many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes/cases that caught this collector’s eye.

2013-14 Panini Prestige NBA wax boxes and cases
This isn’t a high-end brand but it’s one that packs two autographs and two memorabilia cards in every box with roughly 20 insert cards, too. The key here? Giannis. His autographs are in here. His Rookie Cards are in here. He’s such a big deal, he doesn’t even need his long last name mentioned here. (Yes, I can spell it … Antetokounmpo.) If you land his auto, it can pay for at least a third, if not half of the case. This is a brand where you can also land the likes of Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant ink (among others) and there’s plenty of stuff in there — especially if you go with a volume buy with the low sale price.

Loaded 2017 Topps Update MLB set gets Chromed in Mega Boxes

The Mega Box is back once again — but only initially at Target stores.

Topps finally unleashed the checklist for its annual retail-only Chromed version of Topps Update on Tuesday and it’s yet again another release that offers Chrome fans one last set to collect but also a shot at some big-name Rookie Cards, Superfractors and autographs.

Keep reading for the basics.

Black November Wave 2 is here … and here are five deals to consider

If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices right now over on the mothership as BlowoutCards.com is in the midst its Black November sales now.

Wave 2 is here and many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes/cases that caught this collector’s eye.

2017 Topps Update Jumbo boxes and cases
This relatively new release is simply a fun one that’s stacked with Rookie Cards and moments from the All-Star Game and Home Run Derby. This collector has ripped hanger boxes, blaster boxes and standard Hobby boxes and many of them have delivered good volume on those guys named Bellinger, Judge and even on the variations. (They don’t have to be rare to be fun.) I haven’t studied the jumbo breaks closely, but one auto and two other hits at this price makes for a fun rip — and if you get lucky you could do pretty well. While this might be a brand that seems somewhat plentiful now, once wax dries up there will be enough key players here to make it of interest later — and basic Topps flagship RCs seem to be growing in popularity, too.

On-card ink and plenty of RC autos drive 2017 Topps Archives Signature Series Active Player Edition

The arrival of 2017 Topps Archives Signature Series Active Player Edition baseball cards this week offers an interesting twist on the products that have been, relatively speaking, a fun rip in recent years.

The idea? A signed buyback card in every pack — except this time it’s today’s stars on cards from the recent past and on their Rookie Cards, a bit of a do-over with signed RCs or prospect cards for those who never had them.

Aaron Judge has a high-dollar 2013 Bowman Chrome auto with a full rainbow but this time his base card gets enhanced, stamped and encased and somebody will land that for the price of box. With 99 copies signed, it’s actually one card that’s very plentiful in this release– and yet one of them sold for $350 on eBay.

Aaron Judge could have been an Oakland A’s star — and here’s his 2010 Bowman Draft Picks card

You probably know Aaron Judge by now. After all, he’s tied for the MLB lead with 15 home runs, is the 6-foot-7 young face of the New York Yankees and on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

But in an alternate reality — and an alternate reality with baseball cards — none of this would have happened. He’d be playing somewhere else.

You probably didn’t know — this collector didn’t — that Judge was once a draft pick of the Oakland A’s, the Moneyballing squad that ultimately sends all of its star players to the Yankees anyway and gets its playoff hopes dashed by Yankees stars and unlikely plays that will never, ever go away. (They even start off movies made about the A’s.)
