panini-america-february-new-autograph-arrivals134

We’ve not seen any formal information related about the upcoming 2016 Panini Flawless football card set from Panini America, but we know it’s coming thanks to the recently returned autographs teased by the company this week

The signer? Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell.

Postseason Superstars: This week’s icons include Antonio Brown, Aaron Rodgers & more … and who’s next?

AntonioBrown

Five catches, 124 years and two touchdowns.

That’s the final line for Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown in Sunday’s 30-12 victory over the Miami Dolphins in their playoff-opening game. At this point, it’s the kind of showing that we expect from one of the league’s elite who had 106 catches for 1,284 yards and 12 TDs this season.

His 2010 Rookie Cards show him fresh out of Central Michigan and can be found in more than 20 brands that season, including Absolute Memorabilia, Bowman Sterling, Certified, Classics, Crown Royale, Donruss Elite, Epix, Exquisite Collection, Limited, Gridiron Gear, Plates & Patches, Threads, Contenders, National Treasures, Prestige, Rookies & Stars, SP Authentic, SPx, Score and Sweet Spot. You can expect to pay top dollar for anything of him that’s relatively rare and his auto RCs (Exquisite, Plates & Patches, Contenders, National Treasures, SPA and SPx) will be even more volatile and in-demand. It just comes with the territory.

Buzz List: Eight NFL players to watch this weekend

WattThe NFL’s postseason kicks off with four games this weekend and it seems each of them have players to watch when it comes to collecting football cards.

Here’s one player from all eight teams Buzz says could be of interest — some obvious, some not.

Watt-PizzaJ.J. Watt — The Houston Texans’ defensive dynamo and part-time tight end is basically a household name with his bloody noses and his Papa John’s commercials, but when it comes to autographed Rookie Cards he might be overvalued. He’s one of very few defensive stars to really get attention when it comes to cards, so it would take a monster game against the Chiefs to make those Contenders Rookie Cards even better buys. Sorry for the bad news there. (Maybe him being able to successfully complete a pizza curl in a follow-up Papa John’s commercial would help?)

Russell Wilson, Doug Baldwin & A.J. McCarron among NFL’s most Buzz-worthy players in Week 14

Wilson
Russell Wilson
may be a tad overlooked with the perfect season and MVP campaign of Cam Newton under way, but the Seattle Seahawks QB has been hard to miss in the last four weeks.

On Sunday, he threw for 292 yards and five touchdowns. In the last month? Well, he’s now got 16 touchdowns and zero picks. That suddenly makes his season look a lot better with 3,289 yards and 26 TDs and seven picks. Ultimately, we all know about the prowess of his 2012 Rookie Cards but there are likely to be more casual collectors looking his way with another strong week.

Buzz would expect movement — if not in price, certainly volume — on his cheapest RCs. (Buzz would expect some action on his autos but still has a tough time calling that an autograph.)

Brock Osweiler, Cam Newton, Doug Baldwin & Megatron among NFL’s most Buzz-worthy in Week 12

Osweiler
Brock Osweiler had to wait a long time for his first NFL start — but his second one that came on Sunday dethroned the NFL’s most-successful team in an overtime classic.

After a 30-24 win over the previously undefeated New England Patriots, this Denver Broncos QB has to be one on the minds of a few collectors — not just on the mind of NFL legend Peyton Manning. Osweiler threw for 270 yards and a touchdown in the game — one where Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (2013 RCs) could easily be right here, too — and he’ll be the talk of football until either his next loss or the potential return of Manning, who is out with an injury.

Osweiler’s RCs can be found throughout 2012 NFL brands and his autographs are plentiful along with his memorabilia cards. If he’s truly the future in Denver, there are bargains to be had. Have we seen a scenario like this recently with the Broncos? Perhaps.
