It’s a piece that promises to explore the man, the myth, the legend — and where that’s led him to today. (And to be the man, you still have to beat the man … he’s not done yet.)

This sealed box of 1961-62 Fleer basketball cards really shouldn’t exist at this point more than 50 years after it was made, but it does and it’s worth a tad more than its original price of just $1.20.
(Yep, that was just $1.20 for the whole box.)
It will be selling for a tad more than that soon as it’s among many high-end items up for grabs in the current Robert Edward Auction. How much?
This just might be a baseball card to go gung-ho for.
It’s one of three Materials cards from The Ted Williams Collection found in packs of 2017 Panini Diamond Kings— all memorabilia cards with pieces of personally worn material from the Baseball Hall of Famer and Boston Red Sox icon.

Among his hit creations on TV? The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game and The Gong Show, which is where his cardboard career comes into play to a limited degree.

What’s Buzzing Today: Impressive breaks today, a Star Wars autograph debate, sketch card collecting strategies & more.
Bo was one of the biggest stars of the 1980s as a college football star, a professional baseball and football star and a marketing star. Everybody knew his name and they still know why.
And then suddenly one day it was gone.
Sure, Vincent Edward Jackson played some baseball after his final NFL game — that hip injury was 26 years ago tomorrow — but he was never the same. And in an interview today he had a different take on his career.
“If I knew back then what I know now,” he told USA TODAY Sports, “I would have never played football. Never. I wish I had known about all of those head injuries, but no one knew that. And the people that did know that, they wouldn’t tell anybody.”
His career as a pro — in both sports — lasted less than a decade but he’s easily one of the biggest icons of his time. It’s a story worth checking out if you missed it and it’s worth revisiting if you didn’t.
Here, though, we simply have one bit of curiosity presented below.

If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices now over on the mothership as BlowoutCards.com’s Black November Wave 10 hits today.
Many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes that caught this collector’s eye.
2013 Panini Beach Boys hobby box
This box is admittedly probably off the radar of many collectors but that doesn’t mean that it can’t deliver. In fact, these can deliver well if you pull the right ink. This Brian Wilson card here? It sold for more than you might think and he’s not alone when it comes to autos in there that have topped the $100 mark. Like the Panini Country release, there are non-traditional collectors chasing cards here to build sets or chase stuff they like with no regard for what something “should” cost based on what it is or its scarcity. Meanwhile, they may not know where to buy boxes — or not want to. Those things can lead to some surprising results — and that’s not the only surprise. Check out the price on this box.
