Leaf offers collectors chance to get other Jack Eichel cards signed

Buffalo Sabres star Jack Eichel is a Leaf Trading Cards exclusive when it comes to autographs, but the company is giving collectors a chance to get his ink on other company’s hockey cards via an upcoming private signing.

According to the company, it’s the only way to get non-Leaf cards signed as the former No. 2 pick will not sign them if asked to in-person.

There are just three brands on the schedule for release this week — one football, one baseball, one gaming — in advance of 11 coming next week.

For football fans, Panini America presents 2015 Donruss Signature Series, which includes four autographs per box. The base set consists of 400 signed cards and every box includes an autographed rookie jersey — or a multi-auto booklet, which is found one per case.

Who might make the cut for First Pitch in 2016 Topps Series 1?

Topps-AlbaOne of the surprises in last year’s Topps baseball card set was First Pitch, a collection of celebrities seen throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at MLB games.

It’s back for 2016 Topps Series 1 — a set that’s just 13 days away — and it’s still a secret as the checklist has not yet been revealed. (Nor has the design — so you can settle for last year’s Jessica Alba card above.)

But Buzz has done some research to perhaps discover who’ll be in this year’s set. We don’t know how many cards there might be, but they’ll be found a few times per box.

Upper Deck’s National Hockey Card Day coming soon in two countries

We’re about a month away from this year’s version of National Hockey Card Day — an Upper Deck promotion that gets two different sets into collectors’ hands if they visit a card shop during the hobby holiday.

There will be one 16-card set available in the United States and a different 16-card set available in Canada — beginning on Feb. 6. Only one will include NHL newcomer and No. 1 overall draft pick Connor McDavid, though.

There are 10 new products on tap for this coming week with the newest Upper Deck Young Guns on the ice, the first college-focused baseball release from Panini America and a new gridiron rainbow from Panini Prizm going up against Topps’ latest version of Finest.

Phenom Connor McDavid paces the pack of Young Guns and he’ll be the first rookie on the checklist of 50 NHL newcomers found in the product. Joining him will be Artemi Panarin, Dylan Larkin and Max Domi to name a few, while No. 2 pick Jack Eichel will appear in Series 2 but be found in Series 1 boxes on a UD Canvas card.
