Topps launches new year of Topps Now WWE (ongoing 2018 gallery)

Update (Jan. 24): Topps has added two Relics and a base card for “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to the lineup one day later. The standard Relics (/25) are $39.99 and the 1/1 version is $499.99.

A big event for the WWE to kickstart its march to WrestleMania has spawned the first 2018 Topps Now WWE cards of the year after the 25th Anniversary of Raw last night in New York.

Four cards will start things off and are up for grabs for the next 24 hours in advance of this weekend’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view, which will likely see some additional returns of past greats just like last night’s nostalgia-filled special — and some additional cardboard next week.

WWE 2K18 Cena Nuff Edition proves John Cena is a signing machine

Wrestling fans who are gamers probably know all about the arrival of WWE 2K18 on Friday, but there’s a collecting angle that’s part of at least one edition of the game.

It’s the (John) Cena Nuff Edition that arrives with a personally autographed print that is grouped with a piece of match-used ring mat from his record-tying 16th championship-clinching victory.

Could Jada Toys’ Nano Metalfigs be a super-cheap collectible hit?

Simplicity, portability, affordability and the chase.

This collector found himself in the toy aisle of a chain store this week and noticed something relatively new that hadn’t caught my attention before. At a glance I was interested and instantly found myself scouring the pegs for something that ended up not being there.

It was a section of Jada Toys‘ new Nano Metalfigs that are available for a few different realms — DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Disney/Pixar, Street Fighter, Harry Potter — and they’re tiny metal sculptures that come in packages just like the big kids’ toys but they don’t come with a big price.

They’ve probably been around for some collectible genres I don’t watch all that closely, but the first wave of the new WWE figures caught my eye simply because they were so small … and so cheap.

What’s a personalization worth to you? WWE tests the market …

The question in the headline is a simple one — what’s a personalization worth to you?

Some collectors would pay more for an item with a message to them, while others would opt for an autograph without anything extra as it would be easiest to sell without a personalization.

WWE is testing that market with a series of five autographed photos available via its auction site for a price — and a limited time.
