flawless-anthony-porzingus-immaculate

One of the most sought-after cards in 2015-16 Panini Immaculate Collection has been found — in a case of 2015-16 Panini Flawless.

Last month, a collector discovered the Kristaps Porzingis Flawless logoman 1/1 in a box of Immaculate and at that time Panini America said it had mistakenly swapped the cards and that the Immaculate 1/1 would be placed into Flawless, the company’s most-premium NBA product.

The hunt for that notable card ended this weekend as it was found by a BlowoutCards.com customer, Anthony from New York, inside a Flawless briefcase.

Panini America brings Player of the Day promo to NBA & makes some Hickory Pacers cardboard, too

panini-america-2016-nba-pod-paul-georgeIt’s nod to the past and the big screen, but one card in the forthcoming Panini NBA Player of the Day set might stand out to some collectors as different.

It’s a Paul George card in the Indiana Pacers’ “Hickory Pacers” uniforms worn a few times this season. Why? It’s the 30th anniversary of the movie Hoosiers, an Indiana basketball staple, and that’s one of the ways the Pacers are honoring the rich history of the game in the state on “Hickory Nights.” It’s a promotion that has resulted in big demand for Hickory items from the team.

Have the Hickory uniforms hit cardboard previously this season? Buzz hasn’t seen every card but it’s possible that this is the first. (Tweet Buzz or leave a comment if you have seen others.)

Now, on to the Player of the Day details …

Best of 2015: The 15 trading cards that helped define a crazy year

15-HK-connormcdavidyounggunsIt’s a time of change, a time of high-end product exploration and a time of options for many collectors in what we call the sports card industry these days.

Tastes, products and prices continue to evolve as does the business environment that helps bring us our cardboard. For every super-pricey box being made, there are seemingly just as many buyers ready to rip or pick off singles for not-always-so-super prices (but super bargains).

The Buzz has only been around for part of 2015, but Buzz has been here all along as part of the world of collecting. Here are Buzz’s picks for 15 cards that helped define 2015.

2015-16 Upper Deck #201 Connor McDavid RC
The impressive prices being paid for what’s just a simple piece of cardboard with just gloss and some foil stamping shows that fundamentals never go out of style when there’s a big name involved. This time, it’s the No. 1 pick Connor McDavid, a Canadian phenom drafted by the Edmonton Oilers. This photo was selected by collectors and it even has a fun sign of 2015 — the fan showing off a photo on her phone in the background.

“He’s going to lead this organization long after I’m retired,” Anthony said in an SI.com story today. “Hopefully we can hoist one or two [championship trophies] before that happens.”
