LeBron James will make a little NBA history tonight in San Antonio

When he arrived in the NBA back in 2003, he already was known as “The Chosen One” and just a couple years later people were pondering whether he was the best ever.

Then, he took his talents to South Beach, won a couple of NBA titles and then returned to where it all started for him and won a championship in Cleveland where there hadn’t been successes like that since the 1960s for any sport. His cardboard? It’s been among the royalty of the NBA since Day 1 — this isn’t about that.

But tonight in San Antonio LeBron James will likely make a different kind of NBA history but is just as significant (if not more so) from a historical perspective.

Heat NBA championship ring given to Dwyane Wade’s former mother-in-law heads to auction block

Wade2-2NBA star Dwayne Wade is in the headlines as he’s looking for a new contract either to remain with the Miami Heat or join forces with other free agents elsewhere, but no matter where he signs he’ll have enough scratch to land himself another NBA championship ring.

This one belonged to his former mother-in-law and it will be up for sale in August via SCP Auctions.

Syracuse legend Pearl Washington loses cancer battle at age 52

Dwayne “Pearl” Washington played just three seasons in the NBA, scoring 1,660 points in 194 career games from 1986-89 with the New Jersey Nets and the Miami Heat.

But he was a legend — a college legend.

“There was no better guy and there’s nobody who has meant more to our basketball program than Dwayne Washington,” said Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim.
