Panini America’s latest nod to college football comes via a high-end brand arriving on Wednesday with some of the biggest names in the NFL game today — you know, guys like Ezekiel Elliott here — and big names from the past, too.
It’s 2016 Panini National Treasures Collegiate football and it will pack even more into every box than originally planned.
Panini America’s Black Gold brand is changing gears for its next release.
The previously solicited 2016 Panini Black Gold Collegiate was set to arrive as a multi-sport set on July 27 with four autograph or memorabilia cards per two-pack box. Now, it will be a football-only release with the same case price and suggested retail price but with better content for what the company calls an “extremely limited release.”
When Panini America‘s newest football card year kicks off with 2016 Panini Contenders Draft Picks next week, collectors will find five autographs per hobby box and plenty of talent primed for the NFL Draft all in their familiar school colors.
That means plenty of talents from the reigning national champion Alabama Crimson Tide, the top stars from The Ohio State University Buckeyes and plenty of other guys who we’ll see donning NFL caps and holding jerseys alongside Roger Goodell soon.
Some collectors who have ripped into boxes of 2015 Panini Immaculate Collection College have found a pretty unusual type of memorabilia card — chin snaps.
Literally almost all parts of the football helmet have made their way into cardboard now — except maybe the mouthguard, inner padding and optional visor.
