The Mick’s return to baseball cards continues today with Panini Eternal.
Mickey Mantle‘s MLB debut came today in 1951 and that starts the “Mantle Monday” project, which will see a new card of the Hall of Famer released each week for the next four months.
Mickey Mantle, the icon of a generation of collectors, will be back on baseball cards soon as Panini America has reached a deal with the estate of the Hall of Famer and former New York Yankee who died in 1995. It will be his first cardboard since 2012 when his family let their deal with Topps expire.
The deal is expected to be formally revealed today with at least one card perhaps coming immediately via the Panini Eternal program, though his sons David and Danny disclosed the deal to Yahoo Sports’ Big League Stew in an interview.
Panini America teased a pretty notable arrival to come on Friday as Kobe Bryant autographs will be made available on the Panini Eternal platform of high-end cards.
Panini America‘s latest lineup in its high-end real-time cardboard program and the 2016-17 Panini Eternal set arrived Monday with something different for the line but one of the newest members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
They’re gem cards of Green Bay Packers great Brett Favre.
Panini America’s high-end real-time cardboard program has added a twist today with the start of a 20-week 2016-17 Panini Eternal Kobe Bryant tribute set.
“Each card will honor one season from Bryant’s decorated two-decade career and many will feature game-worn material, precious gems or autographs,” read a statement from the company. A new card will launch every Friday.

Panini America has a new take on real-time cardboard and the program was officially unveiled today with the announcement that a Peyton Manning Super Bowl 50 card coming on the heels of the teams’ rematch tomorrow night.
