Black November Wave 4 is here … and here are five deals to consider

If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices right now over on the mothership as BlowoutCards.com is in the midst its Black November sales now.

Wave 4 is here and many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes/cases that caught this collector’s eye.

2016 Topps Heritage Minor League Baseball hobby box
You may not recognize the uniforms here but they’re creative — and wearing them are names you should know with guys like Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Rhys Hoskins on the checklist. The crop of players here is pretty strong and so is the signers list in a product that takes the 1967 Topps design back to the minor leagues. Atop the signers list that includes Dansby Swanson, Andrew Benintendi, Alex Bregman, Bryce Harper and Mike Trout for starters, they’re all on-card autographs here. A couple of boxes should get you a basic base set and a number of the inserts that this one includes. It’s a simple but fun break and you can see a sample box here.

Roger Moore’s James Bond legacy spawned modest amount of ink

Bond, James Bond is gone.

Roger Moore who played Britain’s iconic spy in seven 007 films died Tuesday after a “short but brave battle with cancer,” according to his family. He was 89. Moore had a lengthy film career and took on the Bond role in 1973’s Live and Let Die. He continued in the spot until 1985 and was the longest-running actor of the six who have played the character.

“Being eternally known as Bond has no downside,” Moore told The Guardian. “People often call me ‘Mr Bond’ when we’re out and I don’t mind a bit. Why would I?”

And it’s because of that role that collectors have a number of certified autographs of him to chase today.

Bill Paxton’s memorable career reflected on very little cardboard

He’s got just eight certified autographs in two products.

The 61-year-old actor died this weekend after complications due to a surgery and that means many fans might be seeking a memento that they had meant to track down but hadn’t done yet.

As Swin Cash’s career comes to a close, there’s not much cardboard for collectors to chase

Swin-Cash-AutoThe WNBA is in its 20th season and one of the best all-around players in the history of the league, Swin Cash, announced on Tuesday that this will be the final campaign of her 15-year career.

“This game I love saved my life after a cancer scare. It’s provided for me and my family. It’s given me championships in college and the pros,” she wrote in a piece for The Players Tribune. “And it’s asked me whether or not I had the tenacity and perseverance to compete with and against the greatest athletes in the world, and take home the prize of prizes: an Olympic gold medal. Twice.”

She’s one of the top players statistically — yet she’s got very little cardboard for fans to chase. Her story is not a unique one as WNBA cardboard has been largely limited to a small boxed set each year since 2009.
