Aaron Judge could have been an Oakland A’s star — and here’s his 2010 Bowman Draft Picks card

You probably know Aaron Judge by now. After all, he’s tied for the MLB lead with 15 home runs, is the 6-foot-7 young face of the New York Yankees and on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

But in an alternate reality — and an alternate reality with baseball cards — none of this would have happened. He’d be playing somewhere else.

You probably didn’t know — this collector didn’t — that Judge was once a draft pick of the Oakland A’s, the Moneyballing squad that ultimately sends all of its star players to the Yankees anyway and gets its playoff hopes dashed by Yankees stars and unlikely plays that will never, ever go away. (They even start off movies made about the A’s.)

Black November Wave 7 is here — and here are five deals to consider

2013pnperedraftrbb

If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices now over on the mothership as BlowoutCards.com’s Black November Wave 7 hits today.

Many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes that caught this collector’s eye.

2013 Panini Prizm Perennial Draft Picks baseball hobby box
Every box of this one includes four autographs, three inserts and six Prizm parallels — that’s not a lot and Panini America added more in subsequent Prizm releases but there are a couple of names that make this box notable at its reduced price. They are Kris Bryant and Mookie Betts and both of those MVP candidates can be found within the Prizm rainbow of autographs here. Others of note within these packs? Carlos Correa, Joc Pederson, Clint Frazier, Byron Buxton, Clint Frazier, Maikel Franco, Jose Abreu and Aaron Judge. The right rare shade here could be easy profits based on the box prices.

Gary Sanchez just latest to chase in 2010 Bowman Chrome — and he’s not the only Blowout Flash Sale star

Gary-Sanchez-2010The Class of 2010 when it comes to Bowman baseball cards continues to be a deep one as new stars emerge atop the top arrivals of the past.

Back then it was Stephen Strasburg all day long — well, at least until his injury — and since then names like Aroldis Chapman, Max Kepler, Miguel Sano, Shelby Miller and now Gary Sanchez have emerged.

All of those autos and more can be found inside cases of 2010 Bowman Chrome baseball cards and it’s one of a few cases that can be found as part of a weekend flash sale over on the mothership.

How much? Keep reading.

Sweet 16: MLB midseason surprises include unknowns & obvious

Adam-Duvall-2016-ToppsThe MLB All-Star Game is nearly upon us and that gives us all a chance to take a break and assess the season so far and watch the home runs fly in tonight’s Home Run Derby.

One of those sluggers is Cincinnati’s Adam Duvall, who has 23 homers out of absolute nowhere and nearly no cardboard to show for it. As previously noted here on The Buzz, Duvall’s first Rookie Card arrived in 2016 Topps Series 2. And to show how off the radar he’s been he’s a third-year big-leaguer with just one past Bowman card appearance — no autographs — and this Rookie Card is one that doesn’t even have an RC logo. That probably hasn’t helped sales, but some rarities are sellers.

There are other big names in the hobby this season who have played well — in fact there are a lot of decent showings — but here are 15 who have impressed on the field and should be noticed when it comes to cardboard.

Stephen Strasburg’s cardboard won’t reach 2010 heights, but there should be more interest to come

2010-Topps-Allen-Ginter-Stephen-StrasburgThe last time Stephen Strasburg took to the mound for the Washington Nationals and his team did not win was late last season. The last time Strasburg lost? That’s last season, too.

And the last time collectors seemed to truly care about his cardboard? … Arguably that might have been about six years ago.

Don’t look now, but the guy who owned the hobby in the summer of 2010 and owned the Washington Nationals’ hobby dollars (at least for a while) until some guy named Bryce Harper showed up just might be on the rebound and a compelling buy as a successful 2016 season builds.
