Perhaps it’s just the countdown clock to Halloween ticking more loudly, but there’s something I’ve noticed more and more lately out and about and in the world of comic book and movies merchandise.

They’re apparently a thing — and they’re available for quite a few iconic characters in the comics and movies worlds. The Groot you see here? He’s not cheap — $68.96 at Amazon — and he’s not alone.
The newest comic-book movie trailer arrived on Monday and it’s Thor, who’s back once again but there’s someone else who can wield the Mjölnir.
That shocking revelation and a fun cameo can be seen in the teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok.
This is the third film in the franchise, which has grossed more than $387 million in the United States alone and more than $1 billion globally.

The Mjölnir has a new home.
The New York Mets announced this morning that they have joined forces with Marvel to create a bobblehead of Thor — no, not The Avengers’ Norse God — aka Noah Syndergaard, who is one of the Mets’ biggest comic book-nicknamed stars.
A high-grade copy of an iconic comic book has commanded an impressive sum on the auction block.
It’s one of only 11 copies of Amazing Fantasy No. 15, which is the first appearance of Spider-Man, and it sold for six figures via Dallas-based Heritage Auctions on Thursday night.
How much?
It’s one part gimmick and one part patriotic but the arrival of a new comic book series and team from Marvel on Wednesday should be big — and a big challenge for those who decide to collect them all.
It’s U.S.Avengers and the first issue arrives with a variant cover for every state as well as a few more covers that all spotlight an individual star from the Marvel Universe.
If you’re a baseball fan, you know the comic book references were thick this year with the National League champion New York Mets.
