National Baseball Card Day is back — and it’s set for Aug. 13

National Baseball Card Day is back.

The hobby shop event is set for Saturday, Aug. 13, and participating stores in the United States and Canada will have free six-card packs available for visitors. It’s a promotion that hasn’t been done since 2008.

The cards were revealed by Topps on Wednesday on the floor at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Atlantic City, N.J. Oversized cards were used in a presentation with the MLBPA Clubhouse that was streamed online. The cards in shops will be standard-sized cards.

Players who will appear on cards include Madison Bumgarner, Clayton Kershaw, Matt Harvey, David Ortiz, Carlos Correa, Albert Pujols, Luis Severino, Freddie Freeman, Corey Kluber, Salvador Perez, Joey Votto, Prince Fielder, Nolan Arenado, Jose Bautista, Jose Altuve, Chris Sale, Jake Arrieta, Mike Trout, Anthony Rizzo, David Wright, Jacob deGrom, Manny Machado, Evan Longoria, Jose Fernandez, Jose Abreu, Miguel Sano, Ryan Braun, Paul Goldschmidt, James Shields, Kyle Schwarber, Corey Seager, Ichiro Suzuki and Cole Hamels. 

Some MLB players also will be giving away packs of cards at some MLB games the night before.

Visitors to Blowout Cards – The Fantastic Store in Chantilly, Va., will receive a bonus card of Kris Bryant with purchase during National Baseball Card Day.
