Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood gets bigger with upcoming USPS stamp

Would you be mine? Could you be mine?

The answer is “yes,” when it comes to stamps for children’s television icon Mister Rogers as the U.S. Postal Service will issue a new stamp featuring him late next month.

It will be formally unveiled at a dedication ceremony on March 23 at WQED’s Fred Rogers Studio in Pittsburgh — an event open to the public — and should go on sale at that time, too. These Forever stamps will cost 50 cents each and will also be commonly collected as sheets. He’ll share the stamp with one of his puppets, King Friday XIII.

Believe it or not, it’s also not his first collectibles appearance.

Hockey world loses Hall of Famer Johnny Bower at age 93

He was a dominating goaltender nicknamed “The China Wall,” a two-time Vezina Trophy winner, a four-time Stanley Cup champ and a Hall of Famer.

He’s Johnny Bower and the former star for the New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs died Tuesday after a battle with pneumonia. He was 93.

“Johnny Bower enriched us all by sharing the pure joy he felt for the game he played and for the men who played it, with him and against him,” said NHL commissioner Gary Bettman in a statement. “It was a personal privilege to know him, a delight to be in his presence.”

Bargain Buzz: Scouting the Blowout Black Friday Doorbusters

NHL’s young stars invade toy stores in upcoming Funko Pop! series

Some of the biggest young names in the NHL are coming to the toy aisles soon — but some of the biggest ones will only be found in Canada.

Funko released the rundown of its second series of NHL Funko Pop! toys on Friday and it includes Auston Matthews, Johnny Gaudreau and plenty more among a lineup of 16 new toys — and that’s not all.

The movie-maker, TV personality, podcast king and former convenience-store clerk who made the No. 37 more famous in film than on the football field has launched a series custom hockey sweaters that add just another dimension to his marketing machine that would make George Lucas proud. (Or sue somebody.)

The Kevin Smith Signature Series consists of 12 jerseys ranging from a few pop culture and sports parodies to blatant plugs for his films ranging from Clerks back in 1994 to a still-forthcoming flick called Moose Jaws.

National Sports Collectors Convention — the basics (so far)

The National Sports Collectors Convention is nearly here and the months of preparation are culminating in the show of all shows for sports collectors for five days in Chicago.

There will be plenty to see, plenty to do and plenty to buy and Buzz has been watching the developments the whole way.
