Black Friday Contest recap … here’s what’s still up for grabs

buzzbox

Update: Check out Box No. 8 — that contest is still open. All others are now closed.

Black Friday is here and Buzz has kept things, well, buzzing with Blowout contests here with our Buzz Boxes being one part of the puzzle.

Every Buzz Box includes three autographs, three memorabilia cards and four serial-numbered cards as well as a simple bonus base card from a premium product — all cards from Buzz Breaks seen right here.

Most, but not all of our contests here today end in exactly one hour from now. Here’s a rundown and links for those remaining so you can enter — and enter fast — before deadlines hit.

Blowout’s Thanksgiving Contest: Predict NFL points scored & win a 2016 Panini Prime Signatures case

2016pnprimesigfb

Are you ready for some football cards? BlowoutCards.com has a chance for you to score big as part of our preparations for Black Friday.

In a comment right here on The Buzz, guess the total number of points scored in all three Thanksgiving NFL games without going over. The closest to predicting the total point score for the Vikings-Lions, Redskins-Cowboys and Steelers-Colts games — without going over — gets a 2016 Donruss football set.

If the total is guessed exactly, the winner gets a sealed 12-box case of 2016 Panini Prime Signatures — a $660 value.

All entries must be entered before the first game starts at 12:30 Eastern time on Thursday. Comments will be held here before they are approved in batches. (Don’t worry if you don’t see your answer appear immediately on the page. It will show up.)

In the event of a tie, the first correctly posted entry based on the timestamp wins. Limit one entry per email address.

Black November Wave 10 is here — and here are five deals to consider

beachboysns

If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices now over on the mothership as BlowoutCards.com’s Black November Wave 10 hits today.

Many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes that caught this collector’s eye.

s-l16002013 Panini Beach Boys hobby box
This box is admittedly probably off the radar of many collectors but that doesn’t mean that it can’t deliver. In fact, these can deliver well if you pull the right ink. This Brian Wilson card here? It sold for more than you might think and he’s not alone when it comes to autos in there that have topped the $100 mark. Like the Panini Country release, there are non-traditional collectors chasing cards here to build sets or chase stuff they like with no regard for what something “should” cost based on what it is or its scarcity. Meanwhile, they may not know where to buy boxes — or not want to. Those things can lead to some surprising results — and that’s not the only surprise. Check out the price on this box.

2016-panini-classics-football-auto-gallery-292016 Panini Classics football hobby box
Just because it’s not expensive doesn’t mean it isn’t one of the best releases of the year so far — and if you ask this collector Classics is a contender for just that. You’ll find one autograph per box and memorabilia cards atop the ink in others. There also is one buyback auto per 20-box case with some big names to be found. This one’s retro-styled but brand-new design (with a nod to 1983 Topps) is strong with some quirky variations and touches that also add to the oldschool feel. You can see more of those and a gallery in past Buzz stories here. Aside from the hits, the printing quality and design here on retro stock make this a fun rip no matter what. Had Buzz not jumped on some cases in Black November previously, this would be in the ol’ cart.

If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices now over on the mothership as BlowoutCards.com’s Black November Wave 8 hits today.

Many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes that caught this collector’s eye.

2015 Panini Prizm baseball hobby box
BryantYou won’t find as many packs in these boxes, but you’ll find two autographs and more than one parallel or insert card in nearly every single pack. The Prizm rainbow here is as strong as it gets and there are plenty of big names to be found among a young crop of signers and a number of big past names — Kris Bryant, Aaron Judge, Luis Severino, Corey Seager, Addison Russell, Joc Pederson, Steven Moya, David Price, Will Clark, Jose Canseco and plenty more. It’s not as cheap as it used to be as these boxes have heated up some but they’ll remain a fun option to rip as long as they are still around.

2013 Panini Prizm Perennial Draft Picks baseball hobby box
Every box of this one includes four autographs, three inserts and six Prizm parallels — that’s not a lot and Panini America added more in subsequent Prizm releases but there are a couple of names that make this box notable at its reduced price. They are Kris Bryant and Mookie Betts and both of those MVP candidates can be found within the Prizm rainbow of autographs here. Others of note within these packs? Carlos Correa, Joc Pederson, Clint Frazier, Byron Buxton, Clint Frazier, Maikel Franco, Jose Abreu and Aaron Judge. The right rare shade here could be easy profits based on the box prices.

2008 Upper Deck Goudey baseball hobby box2008-goudey-jeter
This one is a fun retro box to rip with its 1930s design and it’s one that has some serious potential when it comes to autographs. Signers in these two-hit-per boxes include Albert Pujols, Derek Jeter, Gordie Howe, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Nolan Ryan, Sidney Crosby, Tiger Woods, Johnny Bench, Dan Marino, Julius Erving, Ken Griffey Jr., Willie McCovey and plenty more. It will take some luck to find some of them, but they are in there along with a Clayton Kershaw Rookie Card and plenty more among the base cards and inserts.

schwarber2014 Panini Elite Extra Edition baseball hobby box
There are plenty of autographs to be found in boxes of this one — and there are Hot Boxes that up the ante, too — but right now there’s one autograph that arguably stands out from the rest.

It’s Kyle Schwarber. The Chicago Cubs’ slugger makes his debut here and has a solid amount of available ink inside the wrappers thanks to the standard autos and parallels atop that.

Other signers here include a heavy-selling Trea Turner, Kris Bryant, Byron Buxton, Michael Conforto, Luis Severino and plenty more (though some of those big names are as insert autos). Also in play here is an under-rated Cuban National Team memorabilia card of Jose Abreu with a piece of his national team jersey — that’s quite unique in the hobby aside from World Baseball Classic releases.

At its reduced price, this one’s worth the shot — and it’s not alone.

2014 Topps Heritage High Number baseball setkyle-hendricks
The Cubs won the pennant — and plenty more — and the 1965 Topps pennant design is the home to the only Rookie Card for one of the World Series champions’ best (and under-appreciated) pitchers in Kyle Hendricks. That’s the easy guarantee from a set that’s loaded with Rookie Cards and has an autograph inside every box. Also big in this one? RCs and autographs for Mookie Betts, Jose Abreu, Billy Hamilton, and Jacob deGrom as well as cards for Masahiro Tanaka, Joe Panik, George Springer and more. With a discount now’s the time to pick one up.

2009 Topps Mayo football hobby box
TimKaineBuying older football boxes can be tough at times as players can come and go quite quickly, but, then again, so did this brand — but there aren’t many sets like it. It’s retro-styled football in the realm of Allen & Ginter with some downright unusual inclusions. Example? It’s the home of a Tim Kaine “Rookie Card” — perhaps notable to some collectors out there since we’re so close to Election Day. Mayo was only around two seasons, and it includes non-traditional autographs and Relics along with a decent mix of big football names. (The big names remain big but the rookies may not be.) For the price this one’s got potential and it’s bound to be very, very different than other NFL brands out there — no matter who you pull.

Many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes that caught this collector’s eye.

2015 Topps baseball Mega Box case
This is the only place to find cards from the 50-card 2015 Topps Chrome Update set and buying by the case is probably the best way for a shot at key rookie parallels and autographs/Relics. Among the notables here? Kris Bryant, Carlos Correa and Francisco Lindor. Statistically there should be at least one Relic per case but the real chase are those key players and their parallels. You get five packs of standard Topps Update and only two packs of Chrome Update but it’s worth it if you buy by the case here — though there is a limit.

2010 USA National Teams (2009 Team) Baseball Box Set
There have been plenty of USA Baseball products in the last decade and this one is the one that went a bit high-end. Why? The talent. Among the autographs you can find here are Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, Francisco Lindor, Trevor Bauer, Sonny Gray, Kolten Wong, Jameson Taillon and Albert Almora. This box carries a pretty hefty discount but all those key autos are still in there.

2014longevity

Black Friday has come and gone, but we’ve left our biggest contest to run through the weekend and into Cyber Monday.

We’re giving away a case of Panini America football cards.

We want our 20-box case of 2014 Panini Rookies & Stars Longevity football boxes to be yours. It’s jam-packed with four hits per box (that’s 80 per case!) and originally carried a suggested retail price of $50 per box.

In a comment right here, guess the total number of points scored in the Ravens-Browns game on Monday night without going over. All entries must be in before the game starts at 7:30 Central time on Monday and comments will be held before they are approved in batches throughout the weekend. (Don’t worry if you don’t see your answer appear immediately on the page.)

***KEEP READING FOR STEP ONE OF TIE-BREAKER***
If there are several collectors who correctly pick the same score, our tie-breaker process will be this:

1. First preference goes to a blog subscriber.
Look for the red button you see here emailon the upper right of the screen (or at bottom of story feed on mobile). Suscribe and you will get an email every time there is a story posted on BlowoutBuzz.com. (We’ll have plenty of info posted here daily.)

2. If all correct responders are already blog subscribers, we will select one winner at random.
