They tweeted it … now that’s a hot case of Museum Collection

Sometimes collation mistakes happen — and those who discover them benefit from the bummer.

Here’s an image from a 2017 Topps Museum Collection break tweeted by @thedimwit this afternoon. That’s 12 laundry tag patches in one sitting and they were pulled by SCI Group Breaks. The tags include Bryce Harper, Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez, Jacoby Ellsbury, Yu Darvish, Hunter Pence, Mike Piazza, Will Myers, Carlos Gonzalez, Carlos Santana and Manny Machado. There are nearly 200 different 1/1 laundry tag cards in the product. Update: Here’s the Blowout Forums thread.

They Tweeted It … Joe Orlando & one big Peyton Manning card

Sometimes a big sale speaks for itself, but a PSA 10 copy of one of Peyton Manning‘s top autographed Rookie Cards might say even more.

That’s not a typo — $52,580 for a card that’s less than 20 years old. (Not bad.)

They Tweeted It … Max Scherzer records biggest save of his career

max-scherzer-tweet

So … that almost happened.

Max Scherzer tweeted the image above Wednesday night, proving that he’s capable of putting up a save, too. A second tweet showed some “dirty” purses in the trash — but there’s been no word on any offseason Disabled List stops for the Nationals ace … yet.

They Tweeted It … Starting Lineup will return sometime soon

Update: They will be returning as a stadium giveaway of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during a game this season, according to this story from ESPN.

Starting Lineup figures will apparently be returning sometime soon, according to ESPN Sports Business Reporter Darren Rovell.

The brand of small sports figures arrived beginning in 1988 via Kenner until its close in 2000 and then via Hasbro until 2001. Figures were available for the four major sports and beyond with each typically arriving with a trading card and sometimes other items within the packaging.

They Tweeted It … Behold, the greatest Star Wars jersey ever

The West Michigan Whitecaps may be a Class-A farm team of the Detroit Tigers, but their jerseys to be worn on Saturday night are as big-league as it gets.

Your only appropriate answer here is … “I know.”

They Tweeted It … Jimmy Kimmel

A few of the celebs found on Topps’ First Pitch cards have started to react to their cards via Twitter. Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t the only one, but here you go.

You might expect it to make the air tonight, which probably would entice a few of his non-collecting regular fans to go find one. If you haven’t seen them all, click here for a full gallery and checklist.

They tweeted it … Atlanta Braves bobblehead promotion revisits Chipper Jones’ biggest save

Braves

The Atlanta Braves may need some rescuing by the end of this season, but at least there will be one promotional game on the calendar that can take some of the sting away from a bad season.

On May 28, the first 20,000 fans into the park will receive a “Chipper rescues Freddie” ATV bobblehead re-creating a moment from the January 2014 winter storm that left countless people stranded around Atlanta. One of those stranded was first baseman Freddie Freeman, who was rescued by past Brave and future Hall of Famer Chipper Jones.

It was a tale seen by many on Twitter and one apparently memorable and odd enough to get fans back to the park.

They Tweeted It … Antonio Brown

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown will be trading in his cleats for Dancing With the Stars soon and that’s perhaps what prompted this tweet on Thursday.

Or maybe he’s just taking over the Skittles beat from the retired Marshawn Lynch?

Sorta legit collecting question: What might something like this sell for at auction if “show-used”?

They Tweeted It … Chipper Jones

We all know how 1990s the 1992 Bowman set can be … but Larry Wayne “Chipper” Jones lived it. He also re-lived it recently signing jumbo versions of his early cards for Topps Authentics.

On a scale of one to 10, this one goes to 11.
