If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices right now over on the mothership as BlowoutCards.com is in the midst its Black November sales now.
Wave 7 is here and many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are five boxes/cases that caught this collector’s eye.
2013-14 Panini Prestige NBA wax boxes and cases
This isn’t a high-end brand but it’s one that packs two autographs and two memorabilia cards in every box with roughly 20 insert cards, too. The key here? Giannis. His autographs are in here. His Rookie Cards are in here. He’s such a big deal, he doesn’t even need his long last name mentioned here. (Yes, I can spell it … Antetokounmpo.) If you land his auto, it can pay for at least a third, if not half of the case. This is a brand where you can also land the likes of Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant ink (among others) and there’s plenty of stuff in there — especially if you go with a volume buy with the low sale price.
If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices this weekend and for the next week or so over on the mothership and they were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of them.
So much so here’s the first of a few “picks” to come in the next few days.
What happens when a New York Yankees rookie hits his league-leading 12th home run of the season?
Baseball cards just keep selling.
Aaron Judge is that Yankee and thanks to several years’ of prospecting sets and his 2017 Rookie Card arrival he’s arguably the hottest cardboard in the hobby today. As we documented here on Monday, he’s got more than 400 different autographed cards already — and there’s undoubtedly more on the way — and that’s a good problem to have.
But what if you don’t have a Judge auto? Where should you start? Consider these 12 sets or specific cards …

2015 Panini Prizm baseball hobby box
You won’t find as many packs in these boxes, but you’ll find two autographs and more than one parallel or insert card in nearly every single pack. The Prizm rainbow here is as strong as it gets and there are plenty of big names to be found among a young crop of signers and a number of big past names — Kris Bryant, Aaron Judge, Luis Severino, Corey Seager, Addison Russell, Joc Pederson, Steven Moya, David Price, Will Clark, Jose Canseco and plenty more. It’s not as cheap as it used to be as these boxes have heated up some but they’ll remain a fun option to rip as long as they are still around.
There are a few products among the Blowout Fourth of July sale that will heat things up the next 11 days — yep, 11 — but the first of the Firecracker deals is worth checking out simply because of the amount of star power and ink potentially found inside each and every box.
It’s 2015 Panini Prizm. The price?
The story of Jarryd Hayne is a unique one that reached a peak back in September when he made the roster of the San Francisco 49ers.
Why? His previous sports experience was as a player in Australia’s National Rugby League.
But now there’s another peak for the running back — he has NFL cards that have recently arrived and his newest ones are to be found in 2015 Panini Crown Royale, which hits stores next week. Those that are available have been peaking pretty well as his career waits to see what’s next.
Panini America‘s Rewards program is the home for an entire parallel of one popular football card set, according to a company announcement made on Saturday.
There are several new products on tap for this coming week with some brands that had experienced some delays finally getting the nod along with some memorabilia-based and cut autograph releases.
The biggest arrivals will be 2015 Panini Prizm football cards and 2015 Panini Contenders baseball cards.
For Prizm, it’s the return of the rainbow of parallels with plenty of new touches and inclusions sure to get football fans going. Standard Prizm boxes will include two autographs per, while jumbo boxes will double that.
There are 10 new products on tap for this coming week with the newest Upper Deck Young Guns on the ice, the first college-focused baseball release from Panini America and a new gridiron rainbow from Panini Prizm going up against Topps’ latest version of Finest.
Phenom Connor McDavid paces the pack of Young Guns and he’ll be the first rookie on the checklist of 50 NHL newcomers found in the product. Joining him will be Artemi Panarin, Dylan Larkin and Max Domi to name a few, while No. 2 pick Jack Eichel will appear in Series 2 but be found in Series 1 boxes on a UD Canvas card.
