One of Topps’ high-end baseball brands arrives today in the form of 2016 Topps Five Star which includes some big ink and a few surprises with every box having a smaller price than a few years ago.
And there’s nothing but ink.
Each box will include just two cards — all on-card autos except for when there are cuts — and, as noted yesterday here on the Buzz. there are autos from some big names.
Who? Barry Bonds, who hasn’t signed for Topps in some time, soccer star Pele, Vin Scully, Bryce Harper, Carl Yastrzemski, David Ortiz, Greg Maddux, Hank Aaron, Ichiro Suzuki, Ken Griffey Jr., Mark McGwire, Mike Trout and Sandy Koufax. And that doesn’t include the cuts, where you can find Johnny Cash, Jesse Owens, Norman Rockwell, Paul McCartney, Babe Ruth, Connie Mack, Cy Young, Joe DiMaggio, Jackie Robinson, Roger Maris, Walter Johnson and Ty Cobb. (To name a few.)
None of those cuts have surfaced yet, but below you can see a gallery of some of the basic autos to be found.
