The XFL will return in 2020 — but it won’t be like the short-lived football league from 2001.

Check out the announcement of its return below — it may not be what you think after you hear much of what’s planned for the new league. Immersive, interactive, reimagined, faster, simpler and family-friendly is what owner Vince McMahon promises from his $100 million venture.

You have to build star power, individual players with real names. Make a purse per game be cruel no win, they get a check for minmium wage. Make it known put yourself out there it can be safe and cruel at the same time just like WWE. Interview the players ask them how they felt eating Ramen all week? Make it for the hardcore but with a mainstream vibe. Show the world how good it feel to win the Championship knowing their family is now taken care of in good fashion. If you want this to work it’s no different then WWE. Winners and Losers and those that lose will fall out and be replaced by the next hungery abitious man.

The XFL has really no hope but to be something similar to the D-League in the NBA. The XFL just doesn’t have the money or the clout to outbid the NFL for the best players. If you think that world class athletes that have worked their whole life for a shot will put their bodies on the line for anything less than top dollar, you are sadly mistaken. You’re going to see people like Johnny Manzel or maybe Kaeperknick as big names. And if someone has a breakout year (like the only XFL MVP Tommy Maddox), they’re probably going to be offered an NFL contract.

Unless they have one amazing hook, they’ll be nothing more than the minor leagues.
