Robert Edward Auctions spring sale leads off with Honus Wagner T206

item_38979_1It’s a low-grade specimen of the most-iconic and expensive baseball card of all time and it’s leading off the action as lot No. 1 in the current Robert Edward Auctions sale.

With 10 days remaining in the company’s spring sale, theSGC 10 (Poor 1) Sweet Caporal T206 Honus Wagner already has attracted 29 bids after an opening bid of $50,000.

What’s it at now?

item_38979_2It presently sits at $300,000. According to the auction house, this card previously sold for $227,500 in a 2008 Heritage Auctions event and is being sold now by that buyer.

The card is among a trio of cards presently topping six figures in the sale — and there will likely be more. The other cards of note include a $130,000 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle graded an SGC 86 and a 1916 Gimbels Babe Ruth card SGC 50 at the same price.
