What’s Buzz-worthy: If you’re a diehard Star Wars fans, you’re ripping pretty much everything you can get your hands on and this has routinely been the biggest release of them all — the high-end stuff — until the arrival of Stellar Signatures this year. This one isn’t $10,000 a box, but it can still deliver pretty well with a deep array of signers, a good amount of variety in its non-ink hits and a look at all directions of the franchise. Ultimately this is probably closer to an average box, but a pair of Canvas parallels (one in 45 packs apiece) helped this one grade out better than it could have. The ink was a pair of voice actors (something I don’t prefer but Star Wars fans clearly want anyone involved) and then it included some of the franchise’s biggest names across the inserts and base cards. The Medallion cards are impressive — and super-heavy — while the film cels are something that I like because it’s more like traditional memorabilia and it’s something more than a standard card. This was my first time busting a full Masterwork box (anybody else wonder why it’s not called Masterworks?) and it wasn’t super-flashy — but it was an experience where I’ll keep my eye on prices for any year of this one because the print quality and the rip quality was there. It makes me want to dig in again.
