What’s Buzz-worthy: The second Panini release celebrating the stars in Cooperstown isn’t its perfect landmark predecessor on a few fronts, but it’s a brand that does what it should spotlighting baseball history. The design on this one has a rather heavy border that’s a bit overwhelming — something that actually helps on the parallels — but ultimately this one just feels flat compared to the first set. On the retail side, these boxes are quite dry — parallels and some highlights should be your only expectations on a regular basis. Over on the hobby side, you can expect an autograph in every box and even more parallels and more inserts than found here. This box is merely a taste-test to see if you like the brand and this one was a discounted box that Buzz figured might be a representative rip good to spotlight here. All in all, this one’s a no-frills release — it’s not supposed to be flashy — but it’s just not as good as the one that came before it. More parallels in this one (the first didn’t have as many) help, but Cooperstown still needs something more on the retail front.
