What’s buzz-worthy: The NBA season tips off on cardboard with this release, which arrives a week after Panini America’s Contenders college brand gets collectors started on the hardwood.

The Basics: The first cards of NBA rookies will be found here along with a look back at last season’s memorable NBA Finals run and some of the first cardboard for notable names with their new teams. … Among the autographs will be Red Hot Signatures, which will be limited to only 25 copies with top names such as Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and Andrew Wiggins in the mix. Rookies also will have their own Red Hot set. The other autographs will be Hot Signatures, which are not as limited. … On the insert front will be Courtside, Road to the Finals, Dreams, Bird’s Eye View, High Flyer and Team Leaders. Inserts will have Artist Proof parallels (/25) as well as Gold (/10) versions. … Each box will contain 24 inserts or parallel cards along with three Kobe 2K insert cards.
