If you hadn’t noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices now over on the mothership as BlowoutCards.com begins its Black November sales today.
Many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases — and here are 10 boxes that caught this collector’s eye.
2010 USA National Teams (2009 Team) Baseball Box Set
There have been plenty of USA Baseball products in the last decade and this one is the one that went a bit high-end. Why? The talent. Among the autographs you can find here are Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, Francisco Lindor, Trevor Bauer, Sonny Gray, Kolten Wong, Jameson Taillon and Albert Almora. This box carries a pretty hefty discount but all those key autos are still in there.
2015 Panini Stars and Stripes Baseball Hobby Box
These boxes may be bargain-priced but they also offer some of the best odds for ink from some of the biggest young names in the game today. Kris Bryant, Alex Bregman, Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber, Addison Russell, Dansby Swanson and so many more can be found in boxes here along with high-quality hits that include laundry tags, flag patches, bat knobs and more. You’ll get at least four hits per box along with plenty of base cards, parallels and inserts. If you want do amass a number of top autos and plenty more with future potential for less cash, this is a case to grab.
2003-04 Upper Deck SPx Basketball Hobby Box Case
This one’s for the high-rollers but it’s still got a four-figure discount as part of Black November. why? The chase for autographs of the three rookies on the box — LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Darko Milicic. Ok, maybe just two of them …
2009-10 Panini Basketball Rak Pak Box
The chase for Stephen Curry Rookie Cards and autographs may not be as hot as it was last spring, but now’s your chance to grab some at slightly lower prices before the wax dries up once again. These packs have plenty of cards inside — plenty of shots at Curry RCs — and there’s plenty more to be found in there, too, including autographs and memorabilia.
2013 Panini Prizm Football Hobby Box
The guy on the box might not have panned out, but there are still two autos and the definite shot at rare Prizm parallels still in store here in every single box. With a discounted price, these boxes just get better — and if you land a rare card of the right name you simply can’t lose.
2001 Upper Deck Golf Rack Pack Box
Based on this one’s bargain price, you can assume that there aren’t many hits here. You’d be right, but based on my past experience the Upper Deck cases from this year can over-deliver on hits, despite the long odds. This one is largely about one card — the Tiger Woods Rookie Card — in the basic set, but there’s always a chance at ink and memorabilia cards. The 2001 SP Authentic Preview packs also are fun and they do have parallels — and Tiger is in that set as well. (That card might be the biggest non-hit draw, actually.) This is a cheap rip with potential.
2012 Benchwarmer Hot For Teacher Trading Cards Box
This limited release is all about the hits with just four cards per box but they are some of the more-creative cards made by the brand with a theme that’s specifically seen throughout the lineup of autographs and memorabilia cards. Among the notable graphs here are Carmen Electra, Sara Underwood, Torrie Wilson, Brande Roderick, Kara Monaco, Traci Bingham, Nikki Ziering and Maria Kanellis.
Dexter Seasons 5-6 Trading Cards (Breygent) Box
The box panel says it all for what’s included in these boxes and, given the price, they’d be worth a rip just to see what weird prop cards can be found inside. Some of the most-unique memorabilia cards ever made have been found in boxes just like these.
Panini Country Music Retail Trading Cards Box
Buzz’s order is already in on this one. Each box includes at least one hit, sometimes two, with a mix of autographs, memorabilia and hit-like inserts made to look like guitar picks. Some would argue that the retail boxes deliver better than hobby — they can deliver some low-numbered ink gems for sure — but there’s only one way to find out. At this price, digging in is worth it, especially when you consider how some of these autographs sell quite well.
2014 Press Pass Total Memorabilia Racing Blaster Box
Panini’s rookie season in NASCAR is still heating things up on the track, but for fans wanting to chase some past greats and past hits this blaster box is one to definitely consider given the price. It packs a single hit in every single box with some potential given the brand’s scope of Total Memorabilia.
