What’s Buzz-worthy: Panini America’s long-running Absolute brand turned out to be a bit of a bummer for this collector. Why? Although there’s nothing noting any type of hit inside a blaster box, this collector was surprised to not find any kind of memorabilia card or autograph inside the box. Heck, there wasn’t even a single serial-numbered card, either. Call it an Absolute bummer considering this is a brand known for its memorabilia cards. That said, there is a premium box available at retail (roughly double the price) that appears to have a pair of hits inside and one looks to be an autograph. That said, hobby boxes are the way to go here. Because the hits are where the rookies are, there were no rookies to be found in this box save for a single Joey Bosa insert card. The base cards in retail have a strong, colorful feel to them along with meaty info blocks on the back and season/career stats. Those are things some brands don’t have. However, no hits in an Absolute box still seems odd considering lesser brands like Score and Donruss — brands that this collector liked — do include one at retail.
