Loaded 2017 Topps Update MLB set gets Chromed in Mega Boxes

The Mega Box is back once again — but only initially at Target stores.

Topps finally unleashed the checklist for its annual retail-only Chromed version of Topps Update on Tuesday and it’s yet again another release that offers Chrome fans one last set to collect but also a shot at some big-name Rookie Cards, Superfractors and autographs.

Keep reading for the basics.

The 2017 Topps Chrome Update set will consist of 100 cards and there will be 20 All-Rookie Cup inserts along with standard autos and signed versions of the Cup inserts, too. Signers there? Derek Jeter, Chipper Jones, Cal Ripken Jr., Kris Bryant, Ken Griffey Jr., Mark McGwire, Rod Carew, Mike Trout, Johnny Bench and others who have gotten the Cup nod on past cards.

The basic checklist includes All-Stars, Rookie Cards and Rookie Debut cards as previously found in Topps Update — all but a handful will be from these players. Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge each have a few appearances. There will be Refractors, X-Fractors, Golds, Reds, Superfractors and even printing plates in this year’s version. The seven-pack boxes also will only be Chrome packs this year instead of a mix of Chrome and more Update cards — and autographs will be found one in every 56 packs.

Among the signers? Bryce Harper, Bellinger, Buster Posey, Clayton Kershaw, Corey Seager, Andrew Benintendi, Carlos Correa, Judge, Alex Bregman and many others also found in the base set.
