It turned out to be a pretty good box of 2015-16 Panini Immaculate Collection.
Why?
It included a 1/1 Kristaps Porzingis logoman patch auto … from 2015-16 Panini Flawless, which is not even out yet. The find was reportedly found in a box from a collector in Taiwan.
The find has prompted a number of questions from collectors on the Blowout Cards Forum about whether there are other Flawless cards mistakenly placed into Immaculate boxes — or whether Immaculate cards aren’t in there that should be. Flawless is set to arrive on Oct. 5 and the mistake has some collectors wondering about that brand’s potential now with a high-profile card apparently elsewhere instead of being inside those high-priced briefcases.
Panini released the following statement to the public on Thursday evening:
“Panini America officials on Thursday confirmed what one collector in Taipei surprisingly discovered firsthand earlier this week: The recent release of 2015-16 Immaculate Basketball unintentionally included the Kristaps Porzingis 1/1 Logoman Autograph produced for 2015-16 Flawless Basketball, which begins packing out Friday.
“After thoroughly researching the situation, company officials discovered that the Porzingis Logoman Autographs for both products were miscataloged and placed into the wrong packout queue. The Flawless Logoman was included in Immaculate; the Immaculate Logoman will be packed out in Flawless.”
